Manual handling at work in Ireland is governed by the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, S.I. No. 299 of 2007, Part 2 Chapter 4, Regulations 68–69 and Schedule 3.
There is no statutory expiry date on a manual handling certificate in Irish law. The Health and Safety Authority recommends refresher training at intervals of no more than three years, and many employers apply that as policy.
The HSA does not approve, accredit or endorse any manual handling course or provider. Any site claiming HSA approval is misdescribing it. What matters is that the training is adequate for the risk.

Our 14-day money-back guarantee. If you are not happy with the course, email us within 14 days of your purchase and we will refund you in full. You do not need to give a reason. Your statutory cancellation rights. Under the European Union (Consumer Information, Cancellation and Other Rights) Regulations 2013 (S.I. No. 484 of 2013) you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. Because this course is digital content supplied immediately, that statutory right ends once you expressly consent to immediate access and acknowledge that you will lose the withdrawal right — you are asked to confirm both at checkout before the course opens. The guarantee above is offered voluntarily in addition to those rights and does not restrict them.

Work through the four modules at your own pace on any device, then record your practical assessment.
An instructor reviews your recording. Once it is approved, your certificate is issued to your account.
This is the part most online courses leave out, so here is exactly what happens.
The full lifting sequence is demonstrated step by step before you are asked to do anything.
Use a phone or laptop camera to record yourself performing a lift, following the sequence you have just been shown.
Upload the recording from your account. An instructor watches it and checks your technique against the assessment criteria.
You receive a pass or written feedback. On approval, the certificate is issued to your account.
Issued to your account the moment your practical assessment is approved. Download it as a PDF, print it, or send it straight to your employer.
Irish Safety Courses issues this certificate as the training provider. As set out above, the Health and Safety Authority does not approve, accredit or endorse manual handling courses or providers, and this certificate does not claim otherwise.

Everything worth knowing before you enrol.
The Health and Safety Authority does not approve, accredit or endorse manual handling courses or providers, so no online course can honestly claim to be “HSA approved”. This course is built on the HSA’s published guidance and on the requirements of S.I. No. 299 of 2007. Whether it satisfies your employer is ultimately their call, and it is worth confirming with them before you buy if you are training for a specific job.
Irish law sets no statutory expiry date. The HSA recommends refresher training at intervals of no more than three years, and most employers apply that as policy. Your certificate shows its issue date so the three-year point is easy to track.
Once your recorded practical assessment has been reviewed and approved, the certificate is issued to your account and can be downloaded straight away. It is not issued on payment or on finishing the modules — the practical has to be approved first.
Review times vary with demand. During working hours it is normally around 30 minutes. You are notified in your account as soon as an instructor has looked at your recording, so there is nothing to keep checking.
Yes. The modules, the recording and the upload all work on a phone. A phone is usually the easiest way to record the practical assessment.
Email us within 14 days of your purchase and we will refund you in full. You do not need to give a reason. This is our own guarantee, offered on top of your statutory rights rather than instead of them.
